Shuna no Tabi is an Animage pocket manga publication
copyright of Hayao Miyazaki, 1983. This translation is UNAUTHORIZED and
more than likely INACCURATE. Web publication of this retouched material may
well be illegal. I am attempting to provide a service to English-speaking
Miyazakiphiles in this work as well as practice my hand at my retouching
skills. This is a fan effort and I certainly do not get any money from it.
Be warned: If I am contacted through proper channels about removing this
work, I will have to. Don't be too surprised if it's gone. I encourage all
readers and Miyazaki fans to obtain this small book (details in the Availability section) and use my retouching of the manga
as a guide. |

Today: pages 74-75. We are now half-way through Shuna.

Today is page 62: I have now officially posted further into the Shuna story than I did with my first scanlation effort. (history: in 2000, I "scanlated" pages 4-61 at microscopic resolution, with images no wider than maybe 400 pixels. I've finally caught up!)

It's been a good first week! Not only are we on CHAPTER 3 of the story (having been stuck on chapter 2 for years, I think), but I've started a LiveJournal community as a way for those of you reading along to track my progress. If I lose interest in this project again, I'll be most likely to update you on the status there. the link:

Feel free to join, ask questions, or otherwise contribute--especially if you have a LiveJournal account!

Incidentally! besides this project, I'm an artist in my own right. If you're interested in any of my other work, find my website at http://horriblestudios.zamtak.com. You may find particular interest in the "Photomanips" section, where I have before-and-after images of pages 38 & 42. (IMO, 42--today's page--is a thing of beauty.)
As of right now, I have four more Shuna pages awaiting post.

Err, hi again. I don't even know who checks this thing anymore, even though I get emails periodically--all kinds! although usually they're from people in countries like France and Italy who want to get ahold of my base scans and translate the story into their own language. I'm hoarding my material, though. Obviously.
My other problem is how time consuming this project is. I think I'll always come back to Shuna--it's something I enjoy doing and something I'm good at, after all--but it takes several hours to retouch a single page. Not only that, but updating this website is monotonous. I do it all by hand. The more pages that exist, the more work is necessary.
I'll try at least to post up to page 43 in the next few days--that's as far as I got when I revived the project in April. Sorry for my slowness and all that!
